Watched My Brother Graduate
Sibling · 323rd TRS · July 2, 2026
Went down to watch my brother's graduation last week. Strange seeing him march around so serious when two months ago he could not even do his own laundry. Parking was rough, we ended up walking much farther than expected. It was hot too, really hot, hotter than I expected for that early. A friend of his from high school did Marine boot camp last year and said their family day was way more relaxed, less standing around. Every place near base had a line out the door after, we drove a while to find somewhere. Not sure yet if we'll make his tech school graduation too, depends on my work schedule.
Tip
Wear comfortable shoes, there is a lot more walking than you would think.
About BMT graduation at JBSA-Lackland
This story comes from the 323rd TRS graduation in July 2026. Air Force Basic Military Training graduation at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland spans two days. On Wednesday, families gather as the Reception Center opens at 6:00a, cheer the Airman's Run at 7:30a, and watch the Coin Ceremony at 9:30a, when each trainee officially becomes an Airman. On Thursday, the Graduation Parade at 9:00a (the Pass in Review) sends them off.
After the ceremony, Airmen receive a Town Pass to spend time with their families before shipping to tech school. If you are planning your trip, build your personalized graduation plan for gate routing, hotel recommendations, and a day-by-day timeline.
