- What happens during the BMT Coin Ceremony?
- The Coin Ceremony begins at 9:30 AM on Wednesday inside the Pfingston Reception Center. Trainees march in formation and command staff give a few short remarks. Then each trainee gets called forward to receive their Airman's Coin, officially making them an Airman. Right after the coins, Tap Out begins: families come down onto the floor to find their Airman for the first time since shipping. The ceremony itself runs about 60 to 90 minutes.
- What happens if it rains during BMT graduation?
- Severe weather does not move graduation to the Pfingston Reception Center, that's a common misconception. Ceremonies shift to your Airman's Airman Training Complex or squadron dorm area instead. An initial decision on whether families are authorized at the Squadrons is made no later than 6:30 AM on graduation day (and can change again after that), announced on the BMT Facebook page, so check there first thing that morning. If families aren't permitted at the Squadrons, your Airman comes to the Reception Center after the ceremony to reunite with you there, and Public Affairs also tries to hold one squadron's ceremony at the Reception Center itself so some families can watch in person. - BMT graduation spans two main days: Wednesday (Airman's Run at 7:30 AM, Coin Ceremony at 9:30 AM, followed by Town Pass) and Thursday (Graduation Parade at 9:00 AM, followed by Town Pass). Most families arrive Tuesday and depart Saturday.
- Do you need tickets for Air Force BMT graduation?
- No. BMT graduation has no tickets and no fee. Access is controlled by the base guest list instead: your trainee registers guests for Visitor Access Passes, and each adult shows Real ID at the gate. Seating at the parade is open bleachers, first-come-first-served, so arrive early rather than looking for tickets.
